Key Responsibilities: • Drive Business Development o Lead new business initiatives within an assigned territory in and around Calgary o Proactively prospect and target General Freight and niche markets (e.g., flooring) to shape a balanced freight flow across terminals o Build and maintain a robust pipeline emphasizing both new opportunities and expansion of existing accounts • Account Management & Growth o Conduct regular customer touchpoints—via phone or in person—to reinforce relationships, understand evolving needs, and uncover upselling opportunities o Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring customers feel supported and valued while balancing company objectives o Partner internally across operations, admin, and driver teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction o Collaborate with colleagues managing overlapping regions/customers to bridge synergies and maximize cross-sell potential • Operational & Database Excellence o Utilize CRM tools (e.g., ACT) to track all contacts, meetings, calls, tasks, and opportunities with precision o Ensure consistent updating of expiring rates and renewal cycles to optimize margins and retention o Participate in sales meetings and contribute to continuous improvement discussions around processes and systems • Market & Competitive Analysis o Monitor and analyze freight rates, pricing trends, and competitive offerings in the LTL market o Develop strategic account budgets and pricing models on an annual basis to align with revenue and margin expectations • Customer Support & Responsiveness o Respond promptly and professionally to all inquiries—email, phone, or voicemail—ensuring accurate and timely information o Offer constructive suggestions and apply a proactive stance toward improvement, system enhancements, and process innovation • Cross-Functional Collaboration o Foster strong relationships with internal operations, administrative, and driver teams to preserve consistency, reliability, and service integrity o Support onboarding and hand-offs for new accounts, ensuring full visibility across departments • Additional Responsibilities o Attend trade shows, networking events, and sales functions as needed o Other duties as assigned by Sales Leadership Who You Are: • Self-Starter with Autonomy: You are proactive, disciplined, and capable of working independently without close supervision • Hybrid Hunter/Farmer: Equally adept at acquiring new business and expanding existing relationships • Customer-Centric & Strategic: Able to balance customer satisfaction with company priorities and profitability goals • Innovative Problem-Solver: Brings fresh ideas, adapts quickly to market changes, and can create tailored solutions • Proven Track Record: 3+ years in LTL or freight sales, ideally within an asset-based carrier environment. Familiarity with the flooring segment is a strong asset • Strong Communicator: Exceptional phone and in-person communication skills; persuasive, professional, and results-driven • Analytical & Competitive: Able to interpret market data, price trends, and competitor activity to inform strategy • Collaborative: Works seamlessly across departments; seeks opportunities to improve systems and foster alignment Your efforts in Calgary will directly influence freight volume optimization across the network.
