Regional GM - Warehousing Operations
Our client is a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider specializing in integrated transportation and warehousing solutions across North America. The company manages close to 2 million square feet of secure, warehouse and distribution space across multiple sites. Key services encompass short- and long-term storage for raw materials and finished goods, warehouse management with real-time online reporting, quality control, value-added services, and value-added efficiencies like LEAN methodologies for labor productivity and strategic door management. Position Summary: The Regional Director / VP, Warehouse Operations provides strategic leadership for multi-site big-box warehouse operations, including cross-dock expertise, facility moves, and greenfield start-ups, managing client supply chains for efficiency, profitability, and quality service. Reporting directly to the President, this role drives implementation of industry best practices while also building Team bench strength for next-generation talent development. Key Responsibilities • Lead daily operations across multiple high-volume warehouses, directing inbound/outbound flows, inventory control, shipping/receiving, sanitation, maintenance, and cross-docking to achieve productivity targets and service levels • Develop and execute strategies for facility expansions, relocations, and start-ups, including LEAN process optimizations, slotting, resource planning, and KPI monitoring such as order fill rates, on-time pickups/deliveries, labor costs per pallet/case, and quote-to-cash efficiency in line client-focused expectations • Oversee P&L management, budgeting, cost controls, and performance reporting; analyze variances, implement corrective actions, ensure compliance with safety regulations (WHMIS, TDG, CBSA), and conduct audits • Foster vendor, carrier, and client relationships, negotiate contracts, facilitate smooth customer transitions with documented rules of engagement, and integrate warehouse activities with transportation for seamless supply chain execution • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, technology adoption (e.g., WMS, automation for 3PL wins), quality assurance, and sustainable logistics; minimize errors, scratch rates, and out-of-stocks while maximizing throughput, incorporating focus on real-time data, trend analysis, and customer pulse checks • Collaborate with senior executives on business goals, sales handoffs, and growth opportunities; prioritize high-value RFQs, risk decisions, and process standardization to support commercial P&L ownership Qualifications and Experience: • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field; advanced certifications (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma) • 10+ years in warehouse operations leadership within 3PL or similar, including 5+ years progressive experience handling end-to-end warehousing, multi-site big-box management (200,000+ sq ft), cross-dock, facility moves/start-ups, and integrated ground and international freight forwarding and logistics. • Demonstrated success in P&L oversight, KPI achievement, client profitability, and scaling operations Required Skills and Competencies: • Exceptional leadership with hands-on coaching/mentoring to build high-performing teams and succession pipelines; promotes a "roll-up-your-sleeves" culture with emphasis on people development • Advanced proficiency in WMS, ERP, MS Office (Advanced Excel), data analytics for productivity/forecasting, inventory control, and automation; strong problem-solving for fast-paced Canadian logistics scenarios • In-depth knowledge of safety/compliance, inventory integrity, customer service excellence, and proactive issue resolution to support top level customer care models • Outstanding communication (oral/written), influencing, stakeholder management, and analytical skills; ability to innovate with technologies, adapt to changing priorities, and drive cultural change in a highly competitive 3PL landscape This opportunity includes an excellent total compensation package including base salary, performance bonuses, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth in a dynamic 3PL environment focused on innovation, sustainability, and employee development.
