Senior Buyer
We are recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join a high-performing Calgary-based procurement team supporting a large, fast-paced retail/distribution environment. This is a key senior role for an experienced procurement professional who thrives in a high-velocity, consumer-driven business and wants to make a meaningful impact on vendor strategy, inventory performance, and team capability. In this role, you will oversee purchasing decisions across multiple warehouses, balancing lead times, inventory levels, customer demand, and vendor performance to support service levels and profitability. Why this role stands out: This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys complexity, pace, and ownership, and who can bring both depth of experience and practical judgment to a team that values senior leadership and fresh perspective. The environment suits candidates with strong procurement instincts, the confidence to navigate change, and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners in a matrixed organization. Experience in ERP environments, software transitions, and advanced Microsoft Office skills will be an asset. What we’re looking for: • 5+ years of procurement experience, ideally in retail, convenience, grocery, food, consumer goods, distribution, or offshore sourcing • Broad career backgrounds are welcome; candidates with 20+ years of total experience and a diverse path are encouraged to apply • Strong vendor management, negotiation, and category strategy skills • Comfort working with high-volume, penny-profit, fast-moving product categories • Experience with ERP systems and strong MS Office proficiency, especially Excel • A collaborative, flexible, and solution-oriented mindset, particularly during process or system change • Experience working in a corporate or matrixed environment is an asset, but not mandatory Nice to have: • Exposure to large, multi-site procurement operations • Experience supporting or working through ERP implementation or system transition initiatives • Background that includes both structured corporate environments and entrepreneurial or family-business settings This role is based in Calgary and is expected to be in office five days per week. The entire team is located in Calgary, making this a highly collaborative, hands-on environment. Interested in applying?
