Transportation Manager
Our client is a leading national logistics and distribution company recognized for operational excellence and innovative team leadership. They are seeking a hands-on Transportation Manager to lead operations, drive strategic initiatives, and cultivate employee engagement across the team. The Transportation Manager leads daily transportation and delivery operations, ensuring timely, efficient, and compliant movement of goods across assigned regions. Key Responsibilities • Oversee daily transportation operations, including route planning, dispatch, scheduling, and tracking to meet service levels and KPIs • Lead, coach, and develop transportation teams, including supervisors and drivers, through training, performance reviews, daily huddles, and staffing management • Monitor productivity, error rates, and costs; implement action plans, analyze reports, and drive improvements in efficiency and service quality • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies; manage vehicle maintenance, security, and equipment tracking • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners on issues, escalations, and resource needs; prepare updates and reports for senior management • Maintain budgets, approve time/attendance, and support emergent operational challenges while fostering a safety-first culture Required Experience & Qualifications • 5+ years in transportation, logistics, or delivery operations, with at least 5 years in a management/supervisory role leading teams • High School diploma/GED required; diploma/degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field is an asset • Valid driver's license essential; certifications in transportation safety (e.g., TDG, WHMIS), fleet management, or leadership preferred • Strong knowledge of routing, scheduling, regulatory compliance, and transportation best practices in a Canadian context • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); experience with operational reports, KPIs, and logistics software • Proven leadership, problem-solving, communication, and multitasking skills in fast-paced environments Ideal for logistics professionals seeking to advance in a confidential, high-impact role.
